New Group Reading Test (NGRT)

All students complete the NGRT reading assessment twice a year. The data helps us understand individual reading strengths and needs, plan support and measure progress. It also ensures every child is placed on the right reading pathway.

The test adapts to the student as they work through it, which means it is accessible for all learners and provides accurate, individual results. It helps us spot strengths, identify specific areas that need support and measure progress over time. NGRT data is then used to place students on the right reading pathway, whether that is Fresh Start, Rapid Plus, Lexia or Tutor Time Reading. It also helps teachers plan lessons that meet the needs of their classes.

Most importantly, the NGRT enables us to make sure every student is receiving the right level of challenge and the right level of support, so they can become confident, fluent readers who enjoy what they read.
