Interventions

Fresh Start

Fresh Start provides phonics-based support for students who need to develop foundational decoding and spelling skills. It is taught in small, focused groups to build accuracy, confidence and fluency.

Rapid Plus

Rapid Plus offers structured reading support for students who can decode but need help with comprehension, vocabulary and reading stamina. The programme develops understanding and supports learners as they move towards more complex texts.

Lexia

Lexia is an adaptive online reading programme that strengthens phonics, vocabulary and comprehension. Students work at their own pace while teachers monitor progress and provide targeted support. Students are given a log in and a password in order to access the program – this can also be accessed at home if students wish to continue developing their confidence further.

Graduating to Tutor Time Reading

When students complete their intervention pathway, they join their peers in Tutor Time Reading. This step celebrates their progress and ensures they continue to read ambitious, age-appropriate texts every day.

Strategies for at Home

Parents and carers can support their child by encouraging short daily reading, discussing books, visiting the local library and helping them explore genres they enjoy.

Families play a central role in developing strong reading habits. Simple daily routines, such as reading together, talking about books or setting aside quiet time for independent reading, make a significant difference. Every TTR book also includes space for ongoing communication between tutors, students and families to keep reading discussions alive at home.
