Understanding my Next Steps and Career Guidance
Within PSHE and Careers lessons, our students develop their knowledge and understanding about their ‘next steps’ – be that sixth form, college, an apprenticeship, university or the world of work. We want our students to explore and then understand what their ‘Plan A’ is, and recognise that a ‘Plan B’ is also important for every student to consider.
Students are encouraged to aspire through the PSHE and Careers topics that they study, by experiencing mock interviews, employability projects, through charity work/events and being encouraged to visit open days for sixth forms, colleges, apprenticeships and universities.
Careers education and guidance is, of course, vital for our students. We make careers guidance and advice available to our students before they leave Allestree Woodlands. This is made available to our students by employing a careers guidance expert who visits school regularly, one-to-one careers guidance sessions, small group guidance sessions and by interacting with the PSHE and Careers pages on this website.
