Welcome to Allestree Woodlands

It is a privilege to serve as Headteacher of a school that sits at the heart of its community, and one that has been an important part of my own professional journey for over a decade. During that time, I have seen first-hand the strength of our community, the dedication of our staff and the potential of our young people. Allestree Woodlands is built upon strong relationships, high expectations and a shared commitment to ensuring every child succeeds.

At Allestree Woodlands, we believe that every young person, regardless of their background or starting point, deserves access to an exceptional education. We are proud to be a highly inclusive school where students feel safe, valued and encouraged to aspire, achieve and make positive choices about their future.

Our mission is clear:

Enabling aspiration and achievement for all through a knowledge-rich curriculum underpinned by our CORE values:

Courage

Optimism

Regard

Endeavour

These values shape everything we do.

Since joining The Two Counties Trust in September 2025, we have been able to strengthen this further through a partnership built on shared values and a common ambition for young people.

We are committed to delivering an ambitious curriculum that ensures knowledge is deliberately built over time so that every student develops the understanding, skills and confidence they need to thrive. We want our young people to leave Allestree Woodlands equipped not only with strong qualifications, but also with the character, resilience and self-belief to embrace future opportunities and challenges.

Alongside academic excellence, we place great importance on the wider experiences that help students become confident, capable and well-rounded individuals. Through enrichment opportunities, leadership experiences, sport, the creative and performing arts, and our successful sixth form provision, students are encouraged to discover new interests, develop their talents and broaden their horizons.

At the heart of our success is a culture built on high expectations, consistency and strong relationships. We believe that young people achieve their best when they feel known, supported and challenged, and our staff work tirelessly to create calm, purposeful learning environments where every student can flourish.

I am incredibly proud of our students, staff and wider community and hope our website gives you a sense of what makes Allestree Woodlands such a special place. Better still, I encourage you to visit us and experience first-hand the warmth, ambition and sense of belonging that define our school.
